NihaoLife ("we", "us") helps foreigners navigate and live in China. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using the service you agree to this policy.

What we collect

  • Account (optional): your email and password (stored hashed) if you sign up.
  • Requests & bookings: the name, email and phone/WeChat you provide when you request a guide or book an experience, plus the details of that request.
  • Community content: questions, answers, replies and ratings you post on "Ask a Local", with the name you provide.
  • On your device: we use local storage to remember saved attractions, your requests and preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
  • Technical: standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser) for security and reliability.

How we use it

To provide the service: answer your questions, match you with guides, take and confirm bookings, show your community posts, send you transactional emails (e.g. a guide-request confirmation), and keep the service safe and working.

Third-party services

We share the minimum necessary with providers that run parts of the service:

  • DeepSeek — translates content/answers into your language.
  • Resend — sends our transactional emails.
  • Amap (高德) — displays maps on attraction pages.
  • Cloud hosting — runs our servers and database.

We do not sell your personal data.

Your choices & rights

You can browse, ask the AI and read guides without an account. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can ask us to remove content you posted. Contact us using the details below.

International users & data location

The service is operated for users in China; our servers are located in China. If you access from outside China, your data may be processed in China.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
