Ordering at a restaurant

✅ Updated May 2026

Many restaurants now use QR-code ordering: scan the code on the table, browse the menu (often with photos and an English toggle), order, and pay from your phone. Otherwise, picture menus let you point, and dishes are brought to share as they are ready rather than in courses. Tap water is not served — you will get hot water or tea, or you can order drinks. To call a server, say 服务员 (fúwùyuán); to ask for the bill, say 买单 (mǎidān).
