Chopstick taboos to avoid

Never stand chopsticks upright in a bowl of rice — it resembles incense at a funeral and is a serious taboo. Do not tap bowls with them, point them at people, stab food, or pass food chopstick-to-chopstick (another funeral rite). When not eating, rest them on the chopstick holder or across your bowl.
